Speaking: the one section no other section can make up for
Speaking is the oral part of the exam: you start a dialogue, reply to the examiner and give a connected talk on a set topic. It is the only section with a pass mark of its own: miss it and the exam is failed, no matter how high your total score.

How this is checked
Why this matters more than it looks. Multiple-choice tests can be drilled in a week, and every site has them. Speaking cannot be learned by reading: until you have said an answer out loud and heard yourself, you do not know whether you are meeting the task. In the exam you find out once, with consequences.
What the breakdown does. It compares the transcript of your answer with the points the task requires and measures your speaking rate. The transcript is always shown next to it, so you can see exactly what the machine heard.
What it does not do. It does not award an exam score and promises nothing about the result: in the exam you answer a live examiner who judges coherence, pronunciation and whether you can be understood at all.
Three goals, three different speaking exams
The tasks and pass marks depend on why you are taking the exam.
The patent level has no oral part at all — 22 tasks, all written. If you are taking the exam for a work patent, speaking will not come up.
The “Voice” plan: what will become paid
Only the machine check of a spoken answer will become paid: the recording, the transcript and the analysis of what was said. Tasks, model answers, explanations of mistakes and practice exams stay free for good.

Frequently asked questions
How does the oral part actually work?
Face to face with an examiner, on video. The examiner asks the questions and plays your partner in the dialogues; you answer straight away, and preparation time — up to three minutes — is given only before the monologue.
Can I pass the exam if I fail speaking?
No. The section has its own mandatory pass mark, and points from the other sections do not replace it.
What if I have a strong accent?
An accent alone is not a reason to lower the mark: what counts is whether you were understood and whether you said what was asked. So the key is full sentences and covering every point of the task.
Do I need a microphone and internet?
For recording, yes — a phone microphone is enough. Without recording the page still works as an ordinary exercise: the situation, what has to be said and a model answer to compare yourself with.
Is it paid?
