The patent stops being valid from the day after the last paid period. Nobody calls and nobody sends a notice — the person finds out during a check.
Do I pay where I live or where I work?
Where you work: the payment is made "at the place where the activity is carried out under the issued patent". Money sent to another region does not extend the patent.
