Temporary residence permit
Questions and practice test for the temporary residence permit exam
The questions of the temporary residence permit exam, with answers and a breakdown of every mistake. Pick an option and the explanation opens at once: not only for the right answer, but for the one you chose — why it does not fit.
You can listen to a task instead of reading it: all of them are voiced. The oral part is on its own page, where the answer is recorded by voice.

Already taken the exam?
Press one button. We do not ask for a name, a score or a phone number — we only add one to the count of those who passed or failed. This shows whether the trainer predicts the real result.
What follows from this
The exam has seven questions on the history of Russia and six on the basics of law. There are the same numbers here: not a sample, but the complete set of those two sections.
The other sections of the exam are not here yet, and we say so plainly rather than dressing the same thirteen questions up as a full test:
- speaking — three tasks, which only an analysis of spoken language can check. That is the one thing in Sinov that will be paid for.
On thresholds, remember the main point: speaking has its own mandatory threshold — three points out of five — and a good total will not save you. Failing one section is not offset by success in the others.
Where to go next
Need just one module? Two of them have their own pages:
- Russian history — 20 tasks instead of seven;
- Basics of law — 18 instead of six.
The composition of the exam, the points, the section thresholds and the time are on the page Exam for a temporary residence permit.
If the patent is what you need, its tasks are on Questions and test for the patent exam.
Frequently asked questions
Are these the real exam questions?
No, and nobody honest will tell you otherwise: the official papers are closed. These tasks are written from the Rosobrnadzor specification and codifier — the same documents the exam papers are built from. The format matches: three options, one correct.
How many history and law questions are on the exam?
Seven and six out of thirty-four. Both sections carry a mandatory threshold: at least three points in each.
How does this exam differ from the patent exam?
There are more tasks — 34 against 22 — a speaking part is added, and you get 90 minutes instead of 80.
The tasks are in Russian and I read Russian poorly. What should I do?
The tasks stay in Russian on purpose: that is how they sound in the exam, and practising on a translation means practising for something else. The explanation of a mistake, however, opens in your language — the switcher is at the foot of the page.
The composition of the sections was checked on 8 September 2026 against the Rosobrnadzor specification for level 2. The tasks are written from the codifier, and each carries a reference to its code.
